Towards the end
of a construction project, commissioning teams of various disciplines are
required to bring a bespoke static installation containing perhaps thousands of
different components and sensors to full and correct working order.
A building’s performance relies upon effective commissioning. By appointing a
commissioning manager at design stage the following tasks can be carried
out, to ultimately make the commissioning process as simple and effective as
possible.
- Initial design and specification reviews
- schematic and drawing reviews
- component selection reviews for suitability and performance
- control and sensor suitability and location checks
- system installation checks as works progress
- create/review template commissioning test packs for design/client approval
- agree commissioning program, sequences and dependencies
- manage commissioning teams and report progress, issues and requirements to the project team
- witnessing and inviting relevant authorities to witness performance testing
- compiling and delivering system commissioning results for inclusion in the operation and maintenance manuals
Depending on the size and type of project, a limited or full time management role may be appropriate to support and assist the project team with successful delivery.
